Chapter 20 of Almost Nowhere is up here
dammit i thought i was jaded along every possible dimension and yet, after a bunch of stuff i had absolutely no interest in, hussie managed to locate my locus of feels nonetheless
hussssssieeeee (ah, how wistful i feel saying that)
*adds “vriska” to blacklist*
are you sure? john literally just coldcocked vriska in the face i dont know what any reader of homestuck could possibly want more than that
“Vriska” … does this string of letters have a … meaning? I feel … fragments of some long-lost memory, and yet … they’re so hazy …
Also I feel like the writing quality has been unusually high in the last few updates, which would be thematically appropriate (no more glitches). If it’s on purpose that would be … well, Husssssie
I’ve never thought this before but at least in this update, Roxy kind of reminds me of S.
Like the whole denizen conversation sounds like a conversation S. and I would have, with me (John) asking questions in kind of a deadpan, casual way and him (Roxy) responding with enthusiastic descriptions that mix several conversational registers (“fuck yes, was downright incomprehensible in the most mysteriously understandable way” / "like what my options were and what would happen if i did the options and like the metaphysical and moral consequences of doing those options")
Andrew Hussie has messed with my head before in many ways, but this is the first time he’s made me think for a moment that there were actual bugs crawling on my screen.
(I wonder if this is the intended effect, or if it’s just a side effect of “the fireflies should break the screen for thematic reasons” + “the fireflies are fireflies”?)
john egbert died for our sins
Honestly, after the update we just got you’re still complaining? I mean, I do understand what you’re saying, but like, that flash was so cool that I’m starting to think that you are just impossible to satisfy when it comes to Homestuck.
No, you’re not wrong. I think getting the story back on a track I would approve of would be very difficult at this point, and Hussie shows no signs of movement in such a direction. I just keep reading because it’s easier than not reading, esp. when everyone else is talking about it
I think I’ll start tagging my carping with “#homestalgebra” (tag originally invented for my liveblog) so people can savior it if they want

I’m p. sure the point of all that was to show that Aranea is getting that doomed timeline she was planning, and what a bad idea that was.
That sounds right. I guess I’ve just forgotten what sort of weight that has in the greater storyline? Like, Aranea’s plan was a bad plan, but OTOH she was our best source for big cosmic timeline info so if she was wrong about that, then … who knows?
I’m not the greatest Homestuck commentator at this point because I’ve literally forgotten at least half of what happened in Act 6, and could not at this point give you a summary of “what are the important plot threads / outstanding questions / conflicts / etc.” But that won’t stop me from carping ill-informedly, I guess
