Took a midday sick nap and dreamed that @nostalgebraist and @ursaeinsilviscacant wrote and performed a rap based on my tumblr posts.

Esther: Maybe we should all just move to Florida.  We could swing elections with just a few votes, and stuff.

Me: Yeah, and like … meet … alligators …

Esther: [laughs] I know what you mean, but that just made me picture a world where alligators just go around walking upright and acting just like humans.  Alligators in business suits.  Like 10% of the population is alligators and no one really thinks twice about it.  You’d go into a coffee shop and there’d be a few alligators there.  Maybe sometimes the barista is an alligator …

Me: Occasionally you’d hear someone say, “things have really changed in the last few decades.  You don’t see ‘no gators allowed’ signs outside shops anymore.  We’ve become a lot more accepting here in the state of Florida”

“Bernie Sanders’ Dank Meme Stash has a dating site”

-a sentence Esther just said to me out of the blue which, although perfectly true (apparently), nonetheless startled me

Me: “I’m using BeautifulSoup to scrape Goodreads”

Esther: “Okay, I know ‘BeautifulSoup’ is some sort of software, and I know what Goodreads is, but those are all already words

Esther: “I’m just picturing you going along, scraping some soup onto books”

Esther: “Hire me!  I am a capable person at performing services in exchange for currency!  See, look at me, putting soup on these books”

FYI: Esther @ursaeinsilviscacant is currently off tumblr (and the whole internet) because of an issue with her broadband company.  She will be back on Wednesday, August 17.

flakmaniak asked: What's the #iodized salt tag that you and esther use about? I keep trying to figure it out from context and failing.

Tag for our relationship.  “Iodised salt” is the relationship name (originated in an injoke).

These amazing landscapes of the brain in gold, ink, dye, and metal, are by neuroscientist-artist Greg Dunn , who is inspired by the sumi-e style of ink wash painting. He also uses the technique of microetching, a form of lithography that manipulates light on a microscopic scale, which creates a very beautiful and stunning effect.

@nostalgebraist when we live together we are getting prints of these on our walls
