epistemic-horror asked: the leaked first episode of Rick and Morty season 2 features (a) a rather Floornight-esque plot device by which characters "split" and "merge" and retain multiple conflicting sets of memories when they merge; and (b) things called "time crystals." it is a very robnost-y episode

Spooky!  Thanks for the pointer, I would not have had any idea otherwise (I don’t watch that show or know people who talk about it much)

tanadrin asked: I just finished reading Floornight, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me, in a way, of Olaf Stapledon, and his worry about all the souls which are "martyred only, and not blessed." It's also remarkable for being the only piece of fiction I've ever read about alternate universes which didn't make the conceit inherently boring, which was one of the most delightful things about it.

Thank you!

I have not read Olaf Stapledon (yet) although I have Last and First Men on my Kindle.

In the latest episode of Steven Universe, we learn that dreams let you communicate with the [one-who-does-not-individuate] who lives under the ocean

magfrump asked: Okay, so things I currently don't understand about floornight... possible spoilers in ask. First: I gather from one of your other floornight posts that the new city was using the girls for power? I did not get that from the text. Second: were there... meaningful character arcs? Third: Are we supposed to have any idea what the large heteropneums in the first parts are? Fourth: did Herm have a coherent plan of specific actions, beyond just splitting into various branches to "deal with them"?

(spoilers)

anoteinpink asked: AAAAAA CONSTANCE M i get it!

Yep!

I keep including these silly references and not having any idea whether they’re obvious or whether no one will notice them or something in between.  Here is another example (Floornight spoilers through Ch. 40)
