Last night when I was writing this post I spent quite a while looking for an article I had remembered reading, and couldn’t find it.  Now I’m wondering if anyone else has a link, because I remember it being good.  Here is how I described it:

“In a rural town left behind by the country, where the jobs have dried up and everything sucks, where nothing either party has done in decades helped perceptibly with your many problems, of course you’ll support the guy who’ll actually shake things up for good or for ill” – I feel like I have seen this picture a number of times before.

I’m thinking in particular of this one article that went around in pre-election 2016, which was kind of a personal reflection by the author, who wasn’t voting for Trump but understood the urge.  I remember it had this striking bit at the end, where the author said that even if Trump is really bad and fascist and his proto-SS thugs are swarming the streets, well, at least that’d be a real fight, something they understand, something human vs. human where you try and you win or lose (if probably lose), instead of the same grinding shittiness year after year which seems impervious to anything you do.  Maybe I got the concept from that article and then didn’t notice how common/uncommon it was elsewhere?

Anyone?
